Fatal Crash Near Jolly

A Henrietta man lost his life in a single vehicle crash on FM 2393 near Jolly the morning of Jan. 8.

DPS Sgt. Juan Gutierrez issued a press release identifying the deceased as Samuel Joseph Litteken, 72, of Henrietta. Litteken was pronounced deceased on the the scene due to injuries sustained during the crash.

The crash was reported at 5:22 a.m. approximately four miles south of Jolly. Litteken was driving a 1998 Ford F-150 south on FM 2393 according to the preliminary investigation by DPS. The information release stated the vehicle failed to maintain a single lane, went off the road to the right, then over corrected to the left, sending the pickup into a side skid off the road. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle rolled and struck a fence. Litteken, the unrestrained driver was ejected from the vehicle.
